Harvie Mobile Application

Original Idea & RealizationOndrej Pridal & Jan Vrabel

The application was developed in the closed beta version of the new iOS 11 before the official launch of ARKit. The most important part of developing the Harvie application was the ability of ARKit to accurately identify horizontal surfaces and to track and place objects onto small reference points. ARKit uses Visual Inertial Odometry technology, which fuses camera sensor data and motion sensor data. The device can then identify its own movements with higher precision, without the need for additional calibration. Given that sophisticated visuals play a crucial role in the film, the scenes in the application needed to be impeccably lit. ARKit uses the camera sensor to analyse the lighting in a scene and then applies the correct lighting ratio onto the virtual objects.
