Habermannův mlýn (Habermann)

Director: Juraj Herz
Writers: Wolfgang Limmer (screenplay), Juraj Herz
DOP:Alexander Surkala

Legendary director Juraj Herz decided to open one of the most controversial chapters in Czech history: the post-war expulsion of the Germans, where justified anger collided with the most basest of instincts, leaving behind a trail of blood. One of history’s victims, as recorded by the victors of war, was the German industrialist, Habermann, who lived in North Moravia with his family. The circumstances of his death remain a mystery to this day. The film is loosely based on his story, though the paradox-filled insanity than plagued some of the craziest years of the 20thcentury is eerily accurate.
